NYC Notification – West Lane, Eppleby – Drainage Improvements

This letter is to inform you that NY Highways, on behalf of North Yorkshire Council, will be undertaking drainage improvement works at the above location.

The works are currently programmed to commence on 28th October and will be carried out under a road closure, for a period of five (5) days. A signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the closure. A plan showing the extent of the works is enclosed for your information.

Advance warning signage advising of the works will be installed on site shortly. On-site personnel will assist in managing access to properties and businesses within the extent of the works. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Please note, this work is part of an extensive programme and therefore, some adjustment to this start date or the duration of the works may be necessary should unforeseen circumstances such as significant weather events or emergencies on the highway network arise.

To ensure the delivery of these works we request your assistance in the following ways:

· Please contact the Customer Service Centre on 0300 131 2 131, to identify any special access needs you may have prior to work commencing.

· Please co-operate and comply with any instructions issued by the traffic management operatives and take extra care whilst within the works area.

· If you park any vehicles on the highway within the extent of the works, please make arrangements to park elsewhere for the duration of the works.

Melsonby Parish Council Councillor Vacancy

A vacancy exists on the Parish Council, due to a recent resignation. The term of office will run until May 2025.

If you would like to serve as a Councillor please apply, in writing or by email, to the Clerk (details below), providing brief background details and stating why you would like to join the Council by Wednesday 6th November 2024.
To qualify, a person must be a British subject, aged over 18 years old and an elector, must have resided over a year in the Melsonby Parish boundary or occupy as owner or tenant any land or premises therein, or have their principal or only place of work there, and must not be disqualified from holding office as a Councillor.

Police and Crime Plan and Fire and Rescue Plan consultation

On behalf of the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith, I am inviting you to have your say on the York and North Yorkshire Police and Crime and Fire and Rescue Plans as part of the regional consultation on priorities in these areas for the next four years.

These plans will set the strategic direction and priorities for North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to ensure the best service for the communities of York and North Yorkshire.

It is really important that these plans reflect local priorities and public opinions. The consultation is open for 6 weeks, from Monday 7 October 2024 until Monday 18 November 2024.

Please share your own views by visiting www.YourPoliceAndFire.com and completing our survey. Residents and community groups can also take part and share their own views via the same link.

I would be grateful if you could also use your communication channels and social media networks to share this information so that as many people as possible from across our region are able to take part. Melsonby Tidy Gardens Competition 2024

Prizes awarded by Jimmy Wilson-Petch at Melsonby Parish Village Show held on 17 August 2024

NYC Roadworks Notification: The Green and Marygate, Barton (C151) – Carriageway Patching.

This is to inform you that DSD Construction Ltd, on behalf of North Yorkshire Council, will be undertaking carriageway patching works at the above location.

THE WORKS ARE NOW TAKING PLACE ON 7TH OCTOBER

The works are currently programmed to commence on 04/09/24 and will be carried out under a full road closure between the hours of 09:30 to 15:30, for a period of one (1) day. A plan showing the extent of the works is enclosed for your information. Advance warning signage advising of the works will be installed on site shortly. Whilst the works are in progress, a fully signed diversion will be in place. On-site personnel will assist in managing access to properties and businesses within the closure.

Please be advised there may be extended periods when access will not be possible due to the nature of the works and physical constraints of the site. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Please note, this work is part of an extensive programme and therefore, some adjustment to this start date or the duration of the works may be necessary should unforeseen circumstances such as significant weather events or emergencies on the highway network arise.
