Home-Start Richmondshire – the UK’s leading family support charity has come to Richmondshire and we need your help please!
Did you know that there are over 300 Home-Start schemes in the UK and that we have been offering help to families for over 35 years? Now there is one in Richmondshire and we need more volunteers. Can you help please?
Many parents need help, friendship, advice or support during those early years when children are young. There is no rulebook for raising a family and sometimes it can seem overwhelming, particularly if the family is going through difficult times. But if you can get the support you need when you need it, then day-to-day family life and your children’s future can seem much brighter. We support parents through our Home-Start volunteers – they are parents themselves or have parenting experience so they know what families go through. They visit the family in their own home usually once a week. Maybe the family need someone to talk to who won’t judge them; a shoulder to cry on or perhaps some practical help with the children. The family decide what help they need. Families don’t pay for Home-Start’s help and it’s confidential.
All our volunteers have experience of bringing up children. Friendliness and a caring attitude are essential as well as an understanding of the pressures of parenting. We value people who don’t judge others; people who will respect the fact that they have been invited into a family’s home; people who will treat a mother or father as an equal.
We give very high priority to the recruitment, induction, training and support of all our volunteers. We have a highly rated Preparation Course and volunteers are supported through training and throughout contact with the families.
We are now recruiting volunteers and would very much like to hear from you if you can help. Please contact Kerry Ellis on 01748 850079 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
