For several years before Covid put a stop to it, Melsonby had a small library in the church, with books, including some for children, provided by North Yorkshire County Council Library Service and changed every 3 months.
Ian and Jean Simpson serviced this arrangement excellently, but do not wish to carry on, so we now need a couple or two or three friends to take over, if we are to continue this service. It would be an ideal volunteering role for newly retired people looking for something interesting and worthwhile to take on.
The users did not need a library ticket, just to sign in a book the titles they had taken. It was not used by many people, but now the church is used more widely, perhaps the clientele would increase? People could pick up books on Friday mornings when visiting the PO or coffee morning, or it could be any other time during daylight hours when the church is open.
